For the classic French food lover who enjoys exploring Paris infused with French gastronomy history, this is the cultural experience for you.

Join us for three hours as we taste our way through one of the most historic food neighbourhood of the city – Les Halles and Rue Montorgueil.  Long nick-named the ‘Belly of Paris’ thanks to Emile Zola’s famous 1873 novel ‘Le Ventre de Paris’, the area forms the foundation of the Parisian gastronomic scene.

Working our way through the bustling streets housing some of France’s oldest and most charming boutiques we will sample many specialty items and purchase our feast to taste later at the end of the tour with glass of wine in hand!

Au menu :

From one of our favorite French cooking equipment stores, to one of the oldest Foie Gras Epiceries in the city, to visiting a typical French Fromager! No tasting is complete without a bit of  ‘saucisse’ and charcuterie from our favourite Boucherie-Charcuterie.  We will visit one of our favourite Boulangeries to collect that wonderful French Bread to enjoy with our feast! This is just a little 'taster' of what we will be experiencing, and of course we enjoy our collection of fine goods with a glass of wine in hand!

From start to finish, a sensory overload of French Gastronomy enjoyment along with French Food History in the heart of Paris!

Please note that we start our Tours on time and are not able to wait longer for late guests.  If you may be running late, please notify the school directly.  This Paris food tour operates outside for the majority of the time - whilst there may be a snack or two along the way, we will enjoy eating the majority of our goodies at the end of the tour. We will spend approx 2.5 hours on foot walking, so you will want to dress comfortably and appropriately! We intend to have a typically Parisian experience and there may be transport via metro involved (if this is the case, tickets will be provided).  If you are unsure of the meeting point, take a look at this google map  Do keep in mind that we are visiting traditional stores and will focus on tasting traditional french items, there are no substitutes for gluten or lactose items. If you have any intolerances that we need to be aware of, please let us know beforehand.

The centerpiece for a typical Parisian breakfast must be Le Croissant – the decadent flaky and buttery icon of the French petit-dejeuner.

To find the best croissants in Paris, you could eat your way around its countless boulangeries but the best is surely the one you can make yourself!

Here at La Cuisine, our chefs can guide you into mastering the croissant from start to finish: from the creation of the pâte feuilletée levée (a yeast based puff pastry dough) where you will be kneading and folding your way to a technically impressive croissant to wow even the most discerning boulanger. (There’s no need to worry about your French – all our cookery classes are taught in English).

After you’ve learnt the basics, we’ll be able to guide you to making that mainstay of French pastry - crème patissiere (pastry cream) - as well as teaching you more about the technical side of your cooking: the role of gluten, yeast and rising times which will guarantee success in your kitchen at home.

With your laminated dough perfected, we will guide you how to bake a world of possibilities for your breakfast table:

- Le Croissant (bien sûr !)

- Le Pain au Chocolat (the popular rectangular chocolate croissant)

- Le Pain au Raisin (with its signature fruity swirl and pastry cream)

- Le Pain Suisse (packed with pastry cream and chocolate chips)

Everything you cannot finish here over a cup of coffee or tea, you will be able to take home with you! Keep in mind that Croissants at home can take more than 6 hours to make!  We have done a bit of work for you to ensure you have warm, buttery pastries to enjoy at the end!

Think of France, and if you’re anything like us, two things spring to mind – fromage and wine, wine and fromage

If you are a French Fromage and Wine explorer, then this is the experience for you.  The Food Tour dedicated to Fromage and Wine Discovery - in this workshop you will enjoy exploring and discovering the best of both worlds, including learning the basics of French fromage and wine, while taste your way around France!

We start our workshop with a visit to our favorite local ‘fromager affineur to learn about navigating a Fromagerie in France.  There, we will select our fromage to enjoy with wine back at the school.

During our time, you will discover more on:

·         the history and theory of the making of fromage and wine in various regions throughout France

·         the importance of French food labels and how to understand what they mean

·         tasting and serving tips for a variety of wines and cheeses

·         the wonderful world enjoying fromage and wine together and what to look out for when considering pairing them with other foods and beverages

During the workshop, between the visit to the Fromager and onsite during your tasting, enjoy sampling a selection of 10-12 of France's finest cheeses ! Naturally to partner with your Fromage explorations, enjoy accompanying wines from various regions in France.  We wouldn't dare have a Fromage and Wine experience without also having fresh baguettes, so there will be plenty of accompaniments from our favorite boulangerie.

We believe that the best way to learn about a culture is through its food- and you cannot get more immersed in French culture than a French Market! Take a Market Food Tour with us, and afterwards enjoy a hands-on French Cooking Class right in the heart of Paris.

Spend the morning like the locals, with a typical Paris experience: shopping at Marché Maubert, one of the oldest Parisian markets in the city. At the vibrant local marché you will: learn how to pick the best seasonal produce, get inspiration for composing your gourmet French luncheon menu, and select the perfect French cheese tasting plate to enjoy with your meal!

After the market, via a picturesque little walk along the Seine, you will arrive at La Cuisine Paris to begin a hands-on cookery class in English where you and your classmates will use the fresh market products to prepare your gourmet meal. Throughout the duration of the class you will get an opportunity to learn knife skills, produce pairings and put these in to practice with a mélange of modern and traditional French recipes.

After all that hard work, share your handcrafted meal with wine and your fellow classmates in our lovely dining room over-looking the Seine and Notre Dame! Our French Market Class is a true culinary escapade, both in and out of the kitchen.

So unless you see something you want to buy for yourself on the market, no need to take your wallet out!  Please note that this is a class where there is no set menu or set recipes – we leave it to the group and the chef to be creative and choose their menu based on the most beautiful products on the market. Please be aware there is a lot of walking involved, both around the market and to the school. If you need to be sure of where the meeting point is, check out this google map.

If you have any dietary requirements please let the chef know at the start of the class.

- Le Croissant (bien sûr !)

- Le Pain au Chocolat (the popular rectangular chocolate croissant)

Spend the morning like the locals, with a typical Paris experience: shopping at Marché Monge one of our local neighborhood markets in the city. At the vibrant local marché you will: learn how to pick the best seasonal produce, get inspiration for composing your gourmet 4 course French luncheon menu, and select the perfect French cheese tasting plate to enjoy with your meal.
