The centerpiece for a typical Parisian breakfast must be Le Croissant – the decadent flaky and buttery icon of the French petit-dejeuner.

To find the best croissants in Paris, you could eat your way around its countless boulangeries but the best is surely the one you can make yourself!

Here at La Cuisine, our chefs can guide you into mastering the croissant from start to finish: from the creation of the pâte feuilletée levée (a yeast based puff pastry dough) where you will be kneading and folding your way to a technically impressive croissant to wow even the most discerning boulanger. (There’s no need to worry about your French – all our cookery classes are taught in English).

After you’ve learnt the basics, we’ll be able to guide you to making that mainstay of French pastry - crème patissiere (pastry cream) - as well as teaching you more about the technical side of your cooking: the role of gluten, yeast and rising times which will guarantee success in your kitchen at home.

With your laminated dough perfected, we will guide you how to bake a world of possibilities for your breakfast table:

- Le Croissant (bien sûr !)

- Le Pain au Chocolat (the popular rectangular chocolate croissant)

- Le Pain au Raisin (with its signature fruity swirl and pastry cream)

- Le Pain Suisse (packed with pastry cream and chocolate chips)

Everything you cannot finish here over a cup of coffee or tea, you will be able to take home with you! Keep in mind that Croissants at home can take more than 6 hours to make!  We have done a bit of work for you to ensure you have warm, buttery pastries to enjoy at the end!

The experience for those that want to explore, the 'other side' of the Palace of Versailles, the hidden Garden holding the secrets of Gastronomy in France!  Just off of the grounds of the Château you find the magical Le Potager du Roi – the 17th century Garden created by King Louis XIV - his 40th Birthday to himself, and it truly is a garden fit for a king!

Changing ‘la cuisine Française’ and the dining table forever, this magnificent garden is credited not only for advanced techniques such as creating a microclimate for the production of over 300 varieties of fruits and vegetables that grew despite the season, but also for dramatically changing what was served at the king's table.

We start our gastronomic Versailles adventure with a journey through the spectacular ‘Potager’ and its importance to Versailles and the history of la cuisine Française.

Leaving the ‘Potager’, we will continue our journey onwards through the city of Versailles tovisit and taste our way around the local Market de Versailles.  We will tour the four market pavilions, discuss current cuisine trends and topics, and collect items for our French ‘apero’ (the ‘apero’ in France is a term used for pre-dinner nibbles), as well as cheeses to create our own fromage plate.

Following the market we will head to our favorite local restaurant where we will enjoy the ‘apero’ items we have collected, followed by a four-course set menu, including our fromage plate from the market, served with wine.

The experience will end at around 2pm, when you will be provided with a ticket to enjoy a visit to the Château of Versailles during the rest of your afternoon, and a return ticket for your train journey back to Paris.

‘A savoir’ for this experience:

We meet promptly at 9:00am to take the RER together to the city of Versailles - please note that a lateness will mean us having to take a later train.

The cost of this tour is inclusive of:

·         transport to and from the city of Versailles via the RER

·         a private guided tour of the Le Potager du Roi

·         all purchases made for the group at the market

·         the four course set meal at the restaurant

·         a one day admission ticket for the Château of Versailles (for you to use after the tour)

You will be provided with a little welcome package including a La Cuisine Paris tote bag with train tickets to and from the city of Versailles, a map of Versailles, and tickets to enjoy the château after lunch.

Please note: We will be outside for the majority of the tour and will spend approximately three hours of the tour on foot and walking. There is extensive walking involved in this tour! Please ensure that you wear comfortable and appropriate clothing and shoes, so that you are able to have the most enjoyable experience with us!  If you are not sure of the meeting point, take a look at this google map

For the classic French food lover who enjoys exploring Paris infused with French gastronomy history, this is the cultural experience for you.

Join us for three hours as we taste our way through one of the most historic food neighbourhood of the city – Les Halles and Rue Montorgueil.  Long nick-named the ‘Belly of Paris’ thanks to Emile Zola’s famous 1873 novel ‘Le Ventre de Paris’, the area forms the foundation of the Parisian gastronomic scene.

Working our way through the bustling streets housing some of France’s oldest and most charming boutiques we will sample many specialty items and purchase our feast to taste later at the end of the tour with glass of wine in hand!

Au menu :

From one of our favorite French cooking equipment stores, to one of the oldest Foie Gras Epiceries in the city, to visiting a typical French Fromager! No tasting is complete without a bit of  ‘saucisse’ and charcuterie from our favourite Boucherie-Charcuterie.  We will visit one of our favourite Boulangeries to collect that wonderful French Bread to enjoy with our feast! This is just a little 'taster' of what we will be experiencing, and of course we enjoy our collection of fine goods with a glass of wine in hand!

From start to finish, a sensory overload of French Gastronomy enjoyment along with French Food History in the heart of Paris!

Please note that we start our Tours on time and are not able to wait longer for late guests.  If you may be running late, please notify the school directly.  This Paris food tour operates outside for the majority of the time - whilst there may be a snack or two along the way, we will enjoy eating the majority of our goodies at the end of the tour. We will spend approx 2.5 hours on foot walking, so you will want to dress comfortably and appropriately! We intend to have a typically Parisian experience and there may be transport via metro involved (if this is the case, tickets will be provided).  If you are unsure of the meeting point, take a look at this google map  Do keep in mind that we are visiting traditional stores and will focus on tasting traditional french items, there are no substitutes for gluten or lactose items. If you have any intolerances that we need to be aware of, please let us know beforehand.

The humble Baguette is the iconic staple of daily life in France. With its heady amora and signature slashes, why consign les baguettes to memory when you return home? Come and join us at La Cuisine Paris and learn how to create results as close as possible in your own home kitchen and bring the 'boulangerie' to 'chez vous'!

Over three hours, our chefs will entrust you with the boulangers' secrets as they guide you through the kneading, shaping and creation of your dough. You'll learn not only how to create La Baguette but also the infinite possibilities of the Fougasse - the French artisan bread that can be filled with an endless variety of delicious ingredients.

During the workshop, you will make from start to finish your own selection of French breads.
