The Main Changes
- From January 1st a single 2.50€ ticket will replace the fares currently available across the entire Ile de France region, and 2.00€ for buses and trams (or 2.50€ if bought on the bus itself). This will simplify trips, for example to Versailles or Disneyland for visitors heading in those directions, allowing for just one ticket, the same ticket they would use to visit other notable attractions inside Paris
- A new 13€ ticket to either of the Paris airports, Orly or Charles De Gaulle, will be introduced, simplifying the current rates into one single ticket. This ticket will need to be preloaded onto a Navigo or bought on your phone and validated
- While the sale of paper tickets has been slowly decreasing for the past year, the plan is that by the end of 2025, they will be gone completely!
- The Paris Visit pass will increase significantly, the current price of the Paris Visit within Paris starts at 13.95 without airport access. As the pass will now grant access to all zones, it will start at €29.90
Will pre-loaded tickets still be valid?
Yes, tickets bought before January 1st can still be used in 2025, but with certain restrictions. Paper tickets or those loaded onto a Navigo Easy pass or smartphone will only be valid for:
- Metro and RER lines
- Buses and trams
If you still have previously purchased tickets on your Navigo Easy card, you must use them all BEFORE you add any new ones from January 2nd!
What if I have unused paper tickets?
You can use any leftover paper tickets until December 31st, 2025. After that, you will need to use a refillable pass (such as the Navigo Easy) or an app on your smartphone to purchase individual tickets at the full price. However, make sure you use them quickly: magnetic tickets will gradually disappear and more and more validators will no longer accept them.
Going Paperless - How to Purchase the new T+ Tickets
The individual paper tickets are being phased out slowly but surely and by the end of 2025 they are expected to be completely phased out. We now have two different ways of purchasing the T+ Tickets.
The Application
Île-de-France Mobilités has its own application where you can purchase individual passes; individual trips, daily, weekly, and monthly passes are all available. You then use your phone to validate your ticket, beware this does mean that you will need to have enough battery on your phone to get you through the journey.
Navigo Easy
As pictured above, the Navigo Easy is not nominative and does not require a passport-sized photo as the regular Navigo pass does. This is a top-up card where you can pre-purchase tickets and load them onto your card at the bourne located inside the train stations, or even through the app using your phone as long as it is NFC compatible. You can purchase this card for 2€ directly at the station.
